SOCIAL HOSTING FOR SPORTS AND HEALTH

PROMOTER: UDG · ARCHITECT: ERIC AZNAR SANS · BUDGET: 2.820,110,05€ · LOCATION: BEGUR - CATALONIA (SPAIN) · TYPE OF INTERVENTION: REHABILITATION & CHANGE OF USE · STATUS: PROJECT · DATES: 2017
SOCIAL HOSTING FOR SPORTS AND HEALTH arises from the rehabilitation and change of use of an old and industrial building partially used as small and medium size boat warehouse and partially as office. The intervention proposes the incorporation of a new modulated structure capable to coexist with the facades and structure of the old building, in order to obtain habitable spaces.
The main idea of this project is to create a social hosting community destined to third age people, for fitness and health, straight linked to trekking activities promoted by GR-92 and other green routes of this area, allowing to be complemented by a second use of short-period hosting for these hikers who need a room where to spend the night.
The idea of mixing two sorts of hosting makes possible to sheare experiences between old and young aged people. Thus, a solid programme of needs is established, giving form to a complex and uniform system of hexagonal pieces which will be extended from the inside to the outside of the existing building, turning integrated with its structure, to generate in a fist order, the patios for light and ventilation to allow the habitability. In second order, this integration generate the comunitary and the private modulations, which will be differentiated by its size, always parting from the same modulation proportion. The empty and "residual" spaces between the new modulation and the old facades will become servant spaces, mainly destined for circulation and other flexible and communitary uses such as halls & receptions.
